I Need Your Help

I’m at a loss for words here. As you may have noticed I’ve lost most of my recent posts (within the past month and a half) due to some wordpress malfunctions and a little bit of being too hasty on my part. I am really bummed about losing so much of my hard work so I am asking (nay, begging) you to check and see if you have any of my recent posts in your browser cache or if you subscribe to Debit versus Credit if you could PLEASE PLEASE send me any and all posts you can find from Dec 1st up to yesterday (Jan 18th).

My e-mail address is joseph[at]DebitversusCredit[dot]com. Replacing the bracketed words of course with their respective symbols. You can also contact me through the contact link in the header menu. Thank you so much for any help you can provide!

Update: Expect some new posts starting on Wednesday, but until then there won’t be anything new as I’ll be working on trying to find and restore what’s been lost. Thanks for your patience!

  1. I don’t have any of your posts, but there’s a plugin for WordPress that will backup your database according to the schedule that you specify. You can have the backups emailed to you.

Anyway: here is Google cache version of December 2008 – if you can’t get your posts from anywhere else, you can try your luck there:

  2. How in the heck did that happen, that is crazy. Please let us know if you figure it out. I will check my google reader to see what I can find from the past. Also, am I able to subscribe via e-mail. I’m using feedburner for that at my site, and I like it better than the readers. If I had been able to to that, i would have all your stuff at my gmail address. Check into it and let me know.
    Good luck,
    Brandon

    • I’m not 100% sure what went wrong with my wordpress install, but when I tried to do a clean install I accidentally deleted my most recent database. Hence missing the last month and a half of posts. From now on I’ll be doing much more recent backups… and to my computer as well.

Anyway if you find any posts let me know. Oh and if you want to get posts to your e-mail just fill your e-mail addy in at the top of the page, in the header.

  3. Man that sucks. I would suggest using the Google cache and the yahoo/msn cache for whatever they are worth, to rebuild as much as possible. Unfortunately, I don’t cache pages in my browser 🙁

I checked the Internet Archive(Way back machine) and they had some stuff from 2007 in there, but I didn’t see anything more recent.

I need to get better about backing up my blogs as well, because it is easy to mess up a database…

    • Thanks for checking, but thankfully I was given a great tip on how to recover this morning. I found everything that was lost so now it’s a matter of getting everything posted again!

Oh and do back your database up… you really don’t want to deal with this. It’s depressing thinking you’ve lost so many hours of work.
